Farmers markets soon opening in Chicago

The first farmers markets in Chicago will open soon.

Officials with the Chicago Department of Culture and Special Events say farmers markets in Lincoln Park and on Division Street will May 12. The market in the Beverly neighborhood opens May 13.

Downtown Chicago's Daley Plaza farmers markets open May 24. The majority of the city's markets will open throughout June.

The city says that this year there will be five new farmers markets in food deserts, or neighborhoods without easy access to fresh produce.
