Steady weather means better fishing

With a major shot of stable weather area fishing has picked up quite a bit, especially on Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan: Perching is slowly getting better at several locations, including Navy Pier, Montrose, 95th St., and Waukegan. The best news concerns coho and king salmon. Dave Schoeneman reported excellent coho fishing this week with full limits coming in north of Chicago. Reports from Waukegan tell of excellent catches of lakers, coho and kings in deep water.

Fox Chain: Improved largemouth bass angling on Pistakee Lake. Good reports of decent walleye action from Petite and Channel Lakes. Muskies are slow on Lake Catherine, but the bluegill activity is hot on Fox and Nippersink Lakes.

Fox River: Water levels still very high, but some smallmouth being taken from shoreline locations in Elgin.
