Man dies from stabbing in Crown Point
CROWN POINT, Ind. — Police say a 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a fight on a northwestern Indiana city’s courthouse square.
Crown Point police say the wounded man was being helped by acquaintances on a sidewalk when officers arrived about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The man told officers he didn’t know the man who stabbed him in the abdomen, but witnesses described the attacker who ran off.
The wounded man died after arriving at a Crown Point hospital.
The Times and the Post-Tribune report officers found a 22-year-old man walking several blocks away who had blood and a cut on his hand. Police Chief Pete Land says the man admitted he was involved in the fight but that investigators are trying to sort out conflicting information.
The names of those involved weren’t immediately released.
