Leahy, Hower and Santorsola for Itasca trustee
By Daily Herald Editorial Board
Itasca voters have four trustee candidates enthusiastic about serving, but they can seat only three on the village board. Ellen Leahy, seeking her fifth term, impresses with her depth and her clear understanding of the regional issues that will shape Itasca’s future — such as development of the western access to O’Hare airport. Marty Hower and Lucy Santorsola, appointed to fill board vacancies, are seeking their first full terms. Hower demonstrates a thoughtful approach to government with special attention to fiscal management, while Santorsola has proved to be adept at fostering relationships with other local governments. Challenger Patrick Wartan is eager to serve his hometown and has ideas that would serve any community well but could use more specifics to tailor his suggestions for Itasca. Leahy, Hower and Santorsola are endorsed, and we encourage Wartan to stay involved and run again.
