Friends of the Parks sponsor Clean-Up Day at Lake Park

The Des Plaines Park District Friends of the Parks volunteer organization is sponsoring the annual Park Clean-Up Day at Lake Park on May 12, beginning at 10 a.m.

Community organizations and businesses are invited to help beautify the park by spending an hour picking up trash along the lake front and in the park. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

β€œThe response from the community so far has been good,” said Linda Traina, Superintendent of Recreation. β€œ

"Currently we have participation from a Tiger Den from Iroquois Community School, Students from Maine West High School, the Rotary Club of Des Plaines, and Threshold Martial Arts working at Lake Park, and the Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines cleaning up in Kiwanis Park. When the community comes together to help clean up their parks, everyone feels good about their neighborhood and coming out to play,” continued Traina.

Organizations interested in helping with the clean-up on May 12 Should contact John Hecker at 847-391-5700.
