2 face trial in fatal La Crosse shooting

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Two men accused of fatally shooting a young La Crosse woman during an attempted robbery will face trial.

A judge in La Crosse County has found probable cause to hold Kong Vue and his uncle Pao Choua Vue for trial. Police Sgt. Jeff Jansky testified Wednesday that Kong Vue told investigators his uncle was carrying a gun to intimidate people and steal some money because he didn't have a job. Jansky says Kong Vue also told officers he saw 20-year-old Sara Hougom lying on a couch in her apartment, panicked and shot her.

The men are also accused of firing shots at a house in a drive-by shooting shortly before they entered Hougom's apartment. WXOW-TV says both men are jailed on $1 million cash bond.
