Church whistle-blower should be a hero

For months now, reports of money laundering, bribes and corruption in the Vatican, the not-so-holy state, have been reliably, but anonymously reported in reliable newspapers such as the National Catholic Reporter.

Now the source of the truth about the Vatican corruption has been reported. It was the butler. Ha! But is he praised for his role in revealing the truth? No, actually he is confined in the Vatican, in a solitary room to reflect on how telling the truth can be considered sinful.

The doctor in Pakistan who has been sentenced to 30-plus years in prison should really call the butler and commiserate with him. Sometimes heroes are not really understood very well.
