Body found in Purdue pond during search for woman

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University says the Tippecanoe County coroner will perform an autopsy on a body found in a pond on the south side of the campus in West Lafayette.

The body was found Monday by a Purdue grounds worker who was part of a search for the 52-year-old mother of a student.

Jinhua Liu (JEEN-haw LYOO) was last seen Sunday evening when her son Jian Xu (JAHN SHOO) and daughter-in-law left her at their campus apartment.

They say she was gone when they returned four hours later.

The university says it doesn't expect the identity to be released until after the autopsy.
