Woman charged in October crash that killed 4

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — A 44-year-old Michigan woman has been charged in a fiery head-on crash in October that killed an Indiana couple, their 1-year-old son and the woman’s mother.

The South Bend Tribune reports Cecilia Cheney of Niles turned herself in Thursday on a warrant charging her with four counts of moving violation causing death. If convicted, she could get a year in jail on each count.

A message was left Friday for Cheney, who is due in District Court in Cassopolis on May 30.

Police say her pickup crossed the centerline in Cass County’s Milton Township in southwestern Michigan.

Curtis Stone, Stacey Garza, their 1-year-old son Devon Stone and Garza’s mother, Kathleen Marks, all died. The Stones were from Mishawaka, and Marks was from South Bend.
