Reject Obama’s inept energy policy
President Obama continues to say there is no “silver bullet” to lowering energy prices, that factor beyond his control are contributing to the steep rise in the price of gasoline.
Food prices, etc., are likewise affected by the rise in the price of gasoline, as the added cost factors into the production of food by farmers, transporting food to processing facilities, and then delivering the food products to supermarkets to be sold to the consumer.
What happens when many individuals are spending much or all of their discretionary income in filling up at the pump? Buying at box stores, etc., will decrease, resulting in more layoffs because of slow and limited sales.
Another inaccurate President Obama retort is that our nation has 2 percent of the world population, yet we use 20 percent of its oil. This is a misleading statement if there ever was one. According to an article by Gary DeMar on March 19, the U.S. has more than 22 billions barrels of “proved reserves” (What companies are currently extracting.).
The proved reserves of 22 billion barrels of oil doesn’t even count untapped supplies which include at least 87 billion barrels of oil in the Outer Continental Shelf, about 24 billion barrels in shale deposits, up to 12 billion barrels in ANWAR, and the massive Green River Formation in Wyoming which is said to contain a stunning 1.4 trillion barrels of oil shale. In addition to this current administration’s refusal to grant leases on federal land so we could become oil independent, three other factors contribute to the high price of gas in Chicagoland which is said to be the highest in the nation: Mandated seasonal gasoline blends, the declining value of the dollar, and high gasoline taxes in Illinois.
It the Obama administration continues to throw taxpayer monies at failing solar and wind projects and to promote electric cars like the Chevy Volt that catches on fire, this folly will only insure that gas prices will remain high and the American people will suffer. The future looks bleak unless Obama’s inept energy olicy is rejected in November with his defeat at the polls.
