Tattoo shop, salon host fundraiser for friend
A St. Charles tattoo shop and a Geneva hair salon are raising money to help a dying man’s family.
Playground Tattoo, at 2045 Lincoln Highway, is raffling off two tattoos. Tickets are $20. The winners’ entry will be pulled at the end of April. The shop will also donate part of the proceeds from any cancer-related tattoos, such as pink ribbons for breast cancer.
Salon Bronzino, 322 W. State St., is donating half the proceeds from new customers through April.
The money will go to former Geneva resident Chuck McComb and his family. McComb has esophageal cancer, which has spread to a kidney and his liver, said Ryan Harnish, co-owner of the tattoo shop and a friend of McComb’s. McComb lives in Florida, but is returning to Geneva.
The fundraiser is called “What the Chuck?” McComb’s son used to work at the tattoo shop.
“We’re trying to get together and help them all,” Harnish said, including getting relatives in Florida up here to visit.
