Road crews should give drivers a break

I can appreciate the fact that IDOT does most of its repairs during the night, so as not to disrupt traffic. However, the workers seem to forget that there are people who must travel during those nighttime hours, and they should be more considerate of them. I was westbound on I-90 around 2:30 a.m. on April 3. As I drove under the “flyover ramp bridge” at the I-294 and the I-90 interchange, my windshield was suddenly splattered with a white, milky liquid, which prevented me from being able to see for quite some time until I could get my window washer fluid and wipers to clear it. Thankfully, there was not a lot of traffic around me and I avoided a potential collision.

The next morning I awoke to find that my entire car was covered with this white liquid. It took two times through the car wash, followed by a hand washing, to get my car clean. I still have white residue on the black plastic grill cover that I will have to work on with a brush to remove. The following night, around the same time, I ventured on that same route. I figured, what are the chances that could happen again! Lo and behold, I drove under that same bridge but only received a splattering of white liquid on my car. Yes, you guessed it — back to the car wash.

Shall I send the car wash bills to IDOT or ask the IDOT guys working on the bridge to hand wash my car?
