Preservation award nominees sought in Geneva

Submitted by city of Geneva

Nominations are being sought for the 2012 Historic Preservation award, which will be presented on Monday, May 14, by Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns during the city council/committee of the whole meeting at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The awards presentation is a part of this year’s celebration of National Historic Preservation Month in Geneva.

A jury of preservation professionals from outside Geneva will evaluate the historic preservation projects completed on historic properties in 2010 and 2011.

Nominations can be made by a property owner, architect, or developer and must have been performed on a historic or older residential or commercial structure (50-plus years of age). The Preservation Awards Program recognizes and celebrates meaningful achievements in historic preservation, and expands people’s awareness, appreciation and support for preservation efforts in Geneva.

Visit the city’s website at www.geneva.il.us under community development and historic preservation to download an awards nomination form. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 20 and may be submitted in person at city hall, via email to preservation@geneva.il.us or via fax at (630) 232-1494.
