Florida residents: Leave your guns at home

If you live in Florida, do not leave home without it — your gun, that is — for self-defense. Trayvon Martin did, and now he’s dead.

Florida legislators believe everyone has a right to their self-defense and enacted a law to this effect. So, now every Florida citizen can carry a gun in his or her self-defense.

Florida lawmakers ongressmen have given their citizens a license to kill. Would this be a deterrent for a person who said he shot a teenager in self-defense? I think it would have been if he knew that he would be the dead person.

If eventually all Florida citizens carry guns for their self-protection, people may be less safe. They could be shot because they may be perceived as a threat.

If this comes to pass, lawmakers should abolish the self-defense law. They should pass a law making it illegal for private citizens to carry guns in public — they should keep their guns at home.
