Police need support of our leaders

A few weekends ago in Chicago, 10 people were murdered, including a 6-year-old girl playing on her front stoop, and 41 others were shot and injured.

The governor was in Brussels, Jesse Jackson flew off to Florida for another tragedy and the cameras, and Sen. Dick Durbin announced he will investigate violence in the NFL. The superintendent of police says we have enough police, which I doubt he believes. We have police driving for and guarding Ed Burke and the former mayor. The speaker of the House says nothing, he is busy reducing taxes for his rich clients. Lisa Madigan, the attorney general never seems to catch a criminal, but she wants to release names of legal gun owners. How about getting the names of illegal gun owners?

Kids are afraid to walk to school.

Where is the outrage from our politicians and the citizens of Chicago and the suburbs? I believe the police are doing everything they can to protect the people, but they are outnumbered and lack the support of our leaders.
