Cheap Trick, Train among Illinois State Fair grandstand acts

SPRINGFIELD — Cheap Trick, Train, Night Ranger and Blue Oyster Cult will headline this year's Illinois State Fair.

Fair manager Amy Bliefnick confirmed the grandstand acts to The State Journal-Register. The full lineup and ticket prices will be announced May 3.

Cheap Trick returns to the Illinois State Fair two years after the group was rained out. In 2010 lightning and heavy rain forced Cheap Trick to cancel after opening act Blondie played for about an hour.

Train will perform Aug. 15; Cheap Trick, Night Ranger and Blue Oyster Cult will perform Aug. 17.

The Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 9-19 in Springfield.
