Sad that we need a ‘repealer’ office

State Sen. Kirk Dillard’s proposal to create a new state Office of the Repealer is a noble but truly sad indictment of our government. Shouldn’t we expect our leaders to manage their existing staff to perform this function? And to do this without additional hiring, overtime, etc.? This is just another example of public sector inefficiency.

Maybe a better solution is to ask Illinois citizens to read the law lists and submit their findings to the state Senate office, with a copy to the Daily Herald for follow-up. The best responders would be rewarded with lottery tickets, which is what we should be paying our legislature with, along with funding their pensions!
