Lightning schedules softball skills camp
The Northern Illinois Lightning Fastpitch Softball Organization will be conducting a softball skills camp for girls ages 8-16 on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26-27, at Judson University in Elgin.
Instructors for the camp include: Anne Vogt, head softball coach at Larkin High School and longtime private instructor; Becky Stenning, head coach at Judson University, 2011 CCAC and NFCA Region Coach of the Year and private instructor; Jaci Corn, head coach at St. Edward High School, Lightning 18U manager and private instructor; and, Maggie O’Brien, a Cary-Grove graduate and Illinois State University and as a 14U assistant, the newest member of the Lightning’s coaching staff.
The camp, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day, will focus on offensive and defensive skills, such as hitting, bunting, slapping, baserunning, fielding and throwing.
Cost of the camp is $75 per day, or both days for $125. Players will need to bring their own equipment and water. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

St. Edward Steak Fry
The St. Edward Booster Club will hold its semiannual Steak Fry at Green Wave Hall on Tuesday at 5 p.m., with dinner being served at 6 p.m. The event will honor Bill Washburn as the club’s Man of the Year.
