Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election for the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

I feel that a career in public service is one of the most honorable professions that a person can undertake. It is my deepest desire to contribute my time and energy to help ensure that DuPage County remains one of the premier counties in this state.

If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?

I previously served on the County Board (2012-2020) and during that time served as the chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee, Chairman of the Emergency Telephone System Board, vice chairman of the Public Works Committee in addition to being a member of several other committees. As a patrol sergeant in my professional career, I offer a unique perspective. My priorities will be public safety, lower taxes and economic development.

Describe your position regarding the balance between county spending and revenues as it exists today, then describe the chief threats you see looming and how the county should deal with them.

As a DuPage County Republican, I recognize the importance and need for fiscal responsibility by our governmental leaders. Our taxpayers expect and deserve nothing less. Our residents also expect honest, transparent, and open government. I will strive to make the strong moral and ethical decisions that are needed, knowing that our decisions will impact communities for generations to come. The departments within the County have always done an exceptional job operating within and often under their projected budgets. A chief threat could potentially be businesses leaving the County and more so, the State. I will always support businesses and industry. Sales tax revenues are vital for the budget.

How do you rate the county government on transparency and the public's access to records? If it's adequate, explain why. If you think improvements are needed, delineate them.

Chairman Dan Cronin has done an exceptional job implementing his A.C.T. (Accountability, Consolidation and Transparency) Initiative which provides the public with more than adequate access to records. The County has and continues to be a leader when it comes to transparency.

What, if anything, should be done to improve automation and customer service in county offices? What steps should be taken to make that happen?

Overall, the department heads and staff do an exceptional job. Employing experienced staff while embracing new ideas coupled with continuous training will ensure that the residents receive the services they are seeking.
