College preview: UIC at Youngstown State

UIC (5-8, 0-1) at Youngstown State (5-6, 0-2)

When: 6 p.m. Thursday at Beeghly Center

Net: horizonleaguenetwork.tv

The skinny: The Flames look for a second win in December. While it wouldn't be as huge as the Dec. 18 triumph over Illinois at the United Center, a win on the Penguins' home court would be notable because UIC went 0-9 on the Horizon road last season. According to Ken Pomeroy's numbers, UIC senior PG Robo Kreps ranks 12th nationally in minutes played (93 percent of the Flames' possible minutes). He's using that time to average 16 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists while hitting 40 percent of his 3s. UIC needs junior guard Zavion Neely to pick up the shooting pace. He's hitting just 34 percent of his shots and averaging 9.2 ppg. Senior forward Vytas Sulskis (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 21 3s) does it all for YSU.
