Session scheduled on ConocoPhillips remediation

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is inviting the public to one of two sessions to learn more about an investigation of contamination at the ConocoPhillips Wood River Refinery site.

The sessions will held Tuesday, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Rox Arena Auditorium in Roxana.

The EPA is requiring Shell Oil Products to investigate and adequately contain hydrocarbon contamination along the western boundary of the site, and a benzene release near the intersection of Rand Avenue and Central Street.

EPA experts will be there to answer questions. A Shell Oil technical representative has been invited.
