Teddy bears and blankets for Haiti's children
Moved by the devastating situation in Haiti and the impact the earthquake has had on the children there, St. Theresa School students and families are collecting new blankets and Teddy bears to send to Haiti's children.
"The campaign, Blankets & Bears: Comfort for Haiti's Children, is a way for our school community to come together and send comfort to the smallest victims of the earthquake," said Dorothy Aebersold, principal of St. Theresa School. "We are thankful to the school family who planned this project and is making sure the blankets and bears get to Haiti."
"We have been so moved by the reports coming from Haiti and have been especially touched by the plight of the children," Aebersold said. "The students and their families have rallied around the campaign and see it as a way to send some hugs to the children."
"The support and enthusiasm for this project is heartwarming," said Aebersold. "Friends and relatives of St. Theresa School families, as well as local businesses, have heard about the campaign and have offered to make donations and put collection boxes in their offices and churches."
Donations are being accepted through the end of January and then will be shipped to Haiti with the help of the International Relief and Development Organization of Washington D.C.
