Second truck rolls over on same off ramp in as many days

Learn from the mistakes of others.

Just a day after a tanker truck rolled off the exit ramp from the westbound Jane Addams Tollway onto Dundee Avenue in Elgin, a dump truck did the same thing, spilling its load of dirt into the ditch.

The driver of the truck was transported to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries, but traffic was once again diverted from the exit ramp while towing crews worked to get the vehicle upright and carted away.

Monday morning’s accident was blamed, at least partially, on the high winds. But Tuesday’s wreck appeared to be driver error as the weather was no longer a factor.

Fire personnel from both Elgin and Hoffman Estates responded to the scene. The exit is expected to be open again by early afternoon.
