Drop the fuss about team names

Political correctness is the rage today causing us to chase our own tails into nonsensical dribble. If the name “Indians” is offensive, why should “Eagles” be any different. Don’t eagles have feelings?

My son attends Palatine High School, and I kid him about how politically incorrect his school really is. Imagine a short, fat, one-eyed pirate teaching kids values. Or how about Schaumburg High School and the “Saxons.” Another little guy with a weapon — what does that tell you? And Fremd High School has a mean looking viking who looks like he is ready to do harm to someone.

If “Redskins” is offensive, who will tell the Washington Redskins to drop the name? I graduated from Weber High School, we were called the “Red Horde.” Lots of fun with that name, but somehow we all survived. Political correctness has got to go; there are far too many problems we need to address.
