Gurnee man fatally shot in Waukegan

A Gurnee man died after being shot Wednesday afternoon in Waukegan.

The Waukegan Police Department was called to the 2700 block of Washington Street about 4:40 p.m. for a call of shots fired, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office.

Daviontae Sims-Friar, 24, of Gurnee was taken to Vista East Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the news release said. An autopsy Thursday confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting remains under investigation.
