Fox Valley Women in Management offers two $1,000 scholarships

Women in Management Fox Valley seeks applicants to award two $1,000 Susan Wyatt Memorial scholarships to area women who have management as a career goal, or working toward a certification/degree to become a licensed professional.
The scholarship is named in memory of the late Susan Wyatt of Sleepy Hollow who served as an administrative assistant to the Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to award scholarships to women who are attending college and pursuing a degree in business and/or management related areas,” said WIM scholarship chairwoman Janet Ellingson.“Our membership is very supportive and dedicated to raising funds for our scholarship program. All donations are raised by members at our meetings through monthly raffles and our annual holiday silent auction.”

Applicants must be women who:
Ÿ Live or attend college in Kane or DeKalb counties, or Cook County west of Route 59;
Ÿ Are at least 21 years of age and working toward a degree in management or licensed professionals;
Ÿ Have a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale;
Ÿ Indicate financial need; and
Ÿ Are able to articulate career goals and have management as a career goal, or working toward a certification/degree to become a licensed professional.
Applicants need not be a member of WIM Fox Valley. The scholarship recipient will become an associate member of Women in Management for one year, and will be invited to attend monthly meetings in 2013-14 year, value of $100.
Finalists may be required to attend an interview either in person or via conference call. Scholarships will be awarded at the May 23 WIM Fox Valley meeting at the Elgin Country Club.
Since the inception of the scholarship program in 1991-92, the Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management has awarded more than $26,000 in financial assistance to area women.
Women in Management is an organization of professional women managers and business owners. Its purpose is to provide networking opportunities, informative lectures and, and to promote, support, and advance the professional image of women managers. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from September through June at the Elgin Country Club, off Weld Road, in Elgin. The meetings begin with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the lunch at noon and program at 12:30 p.m. Visit wimonline.org for information.
