Antioch woman charged with forging state’s attorney documents

An Antioch woman was charged with forgery for using a government agency letterhead to write excuses to get out of work, Lincolnshire Police officials said Tuesday.

Misty Jurs, 37, of the 400 block of Donin Drive, was also charged with deceptive practices for writing a check from a closed bank account to purchase a Chicago Bears jersey from someone she worked with in Lincolnshire, Investigator Adam Hyde said.

Hyde said Jurs was enrolled in the “First Time Offender” program through the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office after she was found guilty of writing bad checks in 2011.

Under the program, offenders work with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office to meet certain requirements to have a felony removed from their criminal record, Hyde said.

However, while enrolled in the program, Jurs wrote a bad check to a fellow worker in December 2011, and that person went to police after repayment for the check wasn’t received, Hyde said.

Simultaneously, Hyde said, Jurs was using a letter head she received through the “First Time Offender” program and writing herself excuses to her employer to get out of work.

“She took the letter head off one of the first offender documents, then forged notes to her employer saying she was in court,” he said. “However, it was discovered she wasn’t in court, and the employer turned everything over to us.”

Jurs turned herself into police on March 13 and was taken to Lake County jail for a bond hearing. Lake County jail officials said she posted 10 percent of her $5,000 bond as required by law, and was released.

Hyde said it is unknown if Jurs was transferred back to McHenry County Jail after paying her bail in Lake County.

Her next court date is unknown at this time.
