Wagner, Steffani-Wardlow and Pones for Volo board
Daily Herald Editorial Board
Citizens of Volo are fortunate to have several solid candidates for three village board seats in the April 5 election. Incumbents Michael Wagner, a nearly lifelong Volo resident and trustee for 12 years, and Chrissi Steffani-Wardlow, a one-year trustee who previously served on the zoning board, have done a good job and deserve re-election. Their experience will serve the village well as it grapples with the prospect — and cost — of bringing Lake Michigan water to the area. Among the other candidates, both Michael Pones and Kurt Justice are solid choices. Pones, a four-year Volo resident, was appointed to the zoning board nearly three years ago and to the planning board last year. Justice stepped in as advocate for his neighbors in Remington Pointe when foreclosure proceedings began against the builder. We give the edge to Pones for his experience with the village’s government and his regular attendance at village meetings.
