Wolves get 1st win of season

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Chicago Wolves used a pair of second-period goals to earn their first win of the season, 2-1 over the Oklahoma City Barons at the Cox Convention Center on Sunday.

Forwards Riley Holzapfel and Darren Haydar scored goals for the Wolves, and goaltender Edward Pasquale stopped 28 of 29 shots in his professional debut.

Entering the second period trailing 1-0, the Wolves tied the score just 83 seconds into the period. Right wing Spencer Machacek held the puck behind the Oklahoma City net and passed it to Holzapfel, who one-timed a shot past Barons goaltender Martin Gerber.

Haydar scored the game-winner at 8:30 of the second period. Left wing Fredrik Pettersson fired a slap shot from the high slot, which was stopped by Gerber. But the puck trickled into the crease and Haydar tapped it into the empty net.
