Return of the 'King' (Lion, that is)

"The Lion King," the worldwide hit 1997 Broadway musical adaptation of Disney's animated feature, roars back into the Windy City Wednesday, Sept. 29, for a nine-week run.

In town until Nov. 27 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, this is the third Chicago engagement of the six-time Tony Award-winning musical, which previously played the same theater in 2003 and 2005. "The Lion King" is famed for the puppet designs and staging of acclaimed theater director Julie Taymor. The show's return means that composer Elton John is represented with two Loop shows since his musical version of "Billy Elliot" is currently running through Jan. 15.

Tickets to "The Lion King" range from $25 to $94.50 before fees and service charges. Call (800) 775-2000 or visit broadwayinchicago.com for more information.
