Chicago man gets 29 years for molesting two DuPage boys
A Chicago man received a 29-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two young boys in DuPage County.
Gaspar Romero-Paz, 38, will have to serve almost 24 years of the sentence that was handed down Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to court papers.
Prosecutors said Romero-Paz performed sex acts on two boys multiple times at unknown locations throughout DuPage County between 2000 and 2004. Romero-Paz wasn't arrested until February of this year when the allegations came to light. The boys told their parents about the attacks, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the boys were less than 13 years old when the assaults occurred. The two didn't know each other and weren't related to Romero-Paz.
Romero-Paz knew the boys through their parents, whom he had befriended, prosecutors said.
