Varied musical genres highlight Batavia concert series

The Batavia Park District’s River Rhapsody Concert Series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Batavia Riverwalk, Houston Street and Island Avenue. The concerts will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, through Aug. 8, at the Riverwalk. A variety of concessions will be available.
Kick off the summer with “Family Night at the Riverwalk” Wednesday, June 20. BBI will take the stage, rocking out to music from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s while kids enjoy free, inflatable fun and balloon artistry. Stay after the concert July 25 and Aug. 8 for a family-friendly movie in the park.
On Wednesday, June 27, Red Woody performs blues and rock featuring musical improvisation “jams” over rhythmic grooves and song structures that cross genre boundaries.
Smooth Jabuti plays a blended set of covers with a few tasty originals.
On Wednesday, July 11, it will be Johnny Russler and The Beach Bum Band. This band combines the tropical sounds of Caribbean rock, reggae and calypso.
On Wednesday, July 18, the Geneva Jazz Ensemble will have your feet tapping to the musical fare of jazz works. This 20-member jazz band is comprised of members from Kane and DuPage counties.
On Wednesday, July 25, the band Soda features four experienced musicians who play everything from Johnny Cash to Dave Matthews and from Styx to John Mayer.
On Wednesday, Aug. 1, enjoy the music of the Michael Heaton Band. Michael Heaton’s songs emerge from classic American traditions — rock, country and pop.
On Wednesday, Aug. 8, it will be Midwest Dueling Pianos. The interactive musical comedy experience will have kids singing, shouting, dancing and laughing. The entertainers perform an all request driven show with music ranging from the songs of today to way back when.
