On TV: 'Sunset Limited' on HBO

Premium McCarthy

HBO has a treat for fans of Cormac McCarthy: a new vanity-project production by Tommy Lee Jones of McCarthy's stage play “The Sunset Limited.” While not as action-packed as “The Road” or “No Country for Old Men,” or as stirring as his novels “Blood Meridian” or “All the Pretty Horses,” it still features McCarthy's philosophical concerns and uncompromising sense of style. Jones directs and stars in the two-character production alongside Samuel L. Jackson. It's at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, on the premium-cable channel.

Chicago sports awards

Comcast SportsNet Chicago plays host to its annual “Sports Award” benefit gala with a preview special at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, followed by the award ceremony at 7:30, carried from the Hilton Chicago, with Steve Dahl serving as host. So look for the city's top sports heroes to be honored, with proceeds going to the March of Dimes.

Valentine ‘Love'

CBS chooses Valentine's Day to launch its new sitcom, “Mad Love,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, on WBBM Channel 2. Jason Biggs and Sarah Chalke star as new lovers, with Tyler Labine and Judy Greer as their not-so-enamored best friends. Still, anything that revives Chalke and Labine is worth a look.

Angie's assets

Angelina Jolie fully fills out the role of a computer-game super vixen in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” which has a script so stupid you'll have to reboot your brain. It does reunite her with her real-life father, Jon Voight, and keep an eye out for soon-to-be-James Bond Daniel Craig. It's at 9:30 p.m. today on FX.
