Beware the green sign candidates

Communities served by the Gail Borden Public Library have recently been papered with green signs with three names. Many people displaying these signs on their private property have been told that the signs are “for the library.” Although technically true, the names on these signs do not represent what is best for our award-winning library.

The League of Women Voters hosted a forum at the Gail Borden Public Library March 24 so that voters could hear from candidates for the library board. Not one of those three names displayed on the green signs was in attendance. The voters who were present could see the dedication and care which the candidates who participated in the forum have for the library. Any of the six candidates would make a wonderful addition to the library board.

Don’t be fooled by green signs. If you are proud of our award-winning library and want to support its excellent staff and see that the excellence continues into the future, vote for any of the six in attendance: Jean Bednar, Mo Iqbal, Vern Tepe, Herb Gross, Lisa Knight and Rick McCarthy. We cannot allow disinterested parties to be elected just because they trick people into putting green signs in their yard.
