Gurnee police credit witness:

Gurnee police Friday credited a witness for helping them catch a man accused in a home burglary. Around 8 a.m. Wednesday a witness saw a man inside a garage on the 600 block of Angelo Avenue, removing things. The witness called police and provided a physical description of the person and the vehicle, including a license plate number. Later Wednesday, another home burglary was reported to have occurred in the 4400 block of Cornell Avenue. Police said the witness’s information led them to work with Park City police for the eventual arrest of Christopher B. Augustus, 51. Augustus was charged with two counts of felony residential burglary and one count of felony theft. “This arrest is a shining example of residents partnering with their police department to solve crime,” said Gurnee Interim Police Chief Kevin Woodside. “Without this witness coming forward with quality information, the case may not have been solved as quickly.”
