Lincolnshire police charge man with impersonating an official

A Wilmette man was released on bond after being charged with impersonating an assistant in the Illinois attorney general's office, police said.

David J. Rosenfeld, 49, of the 3000 block of Hartzell Street, was also issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis, driving a vehicle with unexpired registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle, Lincolnshire Police Detective Adam Hyde said Monday.

Rosenfeld was released after posting $200 of the required $2,000 bond following his arrest on Oct. 4 at 2:27 p.m., Hyde said.

Rosenfeld was pulled over by police officers at Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road for driving on a vehicle with unexpired registration, Hyde said.

However, Rosenfeld handed over identification that claimed he was an assistant attorney general with the state attorney general's office, Hyde said.

“The officer called the attorney general's office and discovered that no one named Rosenfeld worked there,” Hyde said. “So, it was evident he was using it to get out of a ticket, so he was charged.”

Rosenfeld is due back in court Nov. 7 at 3 p.m., Hyde said.
