President violates principles of freedom

In early October I teamed that Sen. Harry Reid had managed to change the rules of the U.S. Senate. Now, no senator can offer an amendment to any bill unless Sen. Reid says so. Thus, in the Senate there is an ongoing transition to the rule of man.

Also, President Obama has produced several initiatives that transition our nation from the rule of law to the rule of man. We know that in a constitutional republic there is a division of powers; therefore, the executive branch makes sure that the laws Congress passes are carried out. However, in the news we hear that the president has directed the Justice Department to refrain from upholding the Defense Of Marriage Act which was passed by the Congress. How can this be? Under the U.S. Constitution, he has a legal obligation to enforce the laws of the land.

Furthermore, Congress has passed laws regarding immigration, and when the state of Arizona required the enforcement of those laws, he directed the Justice Department to sue Arizona so as to prevent the enforcement of the laws enacted by Congress. That directive by the president demonstrates a dereliction of constitutional duty, as noted above.

All of these situations are undermining the principles and freedoms secured by the government which was established by the Founding Fathers. Correcting the situation will require at least an electorate that votes on the basis of principle rather than party or pragmatism. Many in the electorate need to quit “holding their noses” as they vote against the greater of two evils. Voting for the lessor of two evils and expecting good to come is irrational.
