Recall of Buffalo Grove's Stone would set bad precedent

As a 25-year resident of Buffalo Grove, I am very appreciative of the outstanding efforts of past and present village leaders.

However, I am very concerned the removal of Trustee Lisa Stone will send the wrong message for future residents who aspire to be a trustee on the Village Board, if removal from office (can occur) because of the unpopular view of a trustee.

Recall of an elected official should be the result of criminal or ethical violations, not the result of a segment of the voters who find the official unpopular.

My reasons to vote “no” on the recall are:

Ÿ Trustee Lisa Stone is not alleged to commit criminal or ethical violation as trustee;

Ÿ Trustee Stone's watchdog efforts to determine if the Land and Lakes issue endangers public health;

Ÿ The Village Board majority efforts to marginalize and silence her opposing point of view is undemocratic.

My recommendation to my fellow residents of Buffalo Grove is to vote “no” on the recall of Trustee Lisa Stone on the Nov. 2 ballot.
