City Colleges board chief Gery Chico enters Chicago mayoral race

CHICAGO -- Gery Chico says he's running for mayor of Chicago and he's talked to outgoing Mayor Richard Daley about his plan.

Chico is currently chairman of the City Colleges Board.

The former Chicago school board president and one-time U.S. Senate candidate says his campaign is already up and running.

City Clerk Miguel del Valle and state Sen. Rickey Hendon have also said they're in the race for mayor.

Earlier this month, Daley announced that he won't run for a seventh term.
