Barclays profit rises to 4.2 Billion pounds

Barclays Plc said pretax profit excluding debt-valuation adjustments and other one-time items for the six months ended June 30 rose to 4.227 billion pounds. That beat/missed the 3.9 billion-pound median estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
