Obama ignoring more drilling as option

President Obama ridiculed Republicans for their plan to drill for more oil. I’m sure he thought this was a clever retort to their criticism of his energy policy, but I think it was a major blunder on his part. Probably 60 percent to 70 percent of the public favors more drilling, and it would lower prices by increasing supply and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

But, more importantly, by making this comment he unwittingly revealed in his tone and attitude that he’s completely opposed to opening up any further drilling sites. If he were actually in favor of drilling, as he claims, he would not have made such a sneering, dismissive remark. This may come back to bite him in the fall, especially if gas prices reach the $5/gallon mark, as we’re hearing.

If Republicans are smart, they’ll point out what this really reveals about his true attitude and intentions. He’s placed himself squarely in opposition to the majority of the voting public.
