Yard waste burn off leads to brushfire in Antioch

Burning yard waste got out of control and caused a brushfire Saturday afternoon that destroyed about 10 acres of grassland in unincorporated Lake County, officials said.

Newport Township Fire Chief Mark Kirschhoffer said the fire started behind a home on the 42000 block of Sheridan Oaks Drive. No one was injured and no property was damaged during the fire that started aboput 4:30 p.m., Kirschhoffer said.

Crews from six departments took about two hours to get the fire under control, Kirschhoffer said.
