Elgin theater presents ‘Love Letters’

Submitted by Elgin Theatre Company

The Elgin Theatre Company will present A.R. Gurney’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Love Letters” at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, June 14-30, at Kimball Street Theater in the Ryder Center of Elgin Academy, 360 Park St. in Elgin.

This play is an imaginative theater piece. The play is made up of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two well-to-do people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

At the Friday and Saturday performances, Melissa, the middle-aged woman, will be performed by Sheri Warren, and Andy, the middle-aged man, will be portrayed by Chris Warren. On the Sunday dates, the actors will be Nichole Chelios and Chris Warren on June 16; Nicole Tolentino and Ed Duncan on June 23; and Marilyn House and Pat Molohon on June 30.

Tickets are $15 or $12 for seniors, age 65 and older, and youth, age 17 and younger. Tickets are $10 for groups of 10 or more. For reservations or information, call (847) 741-0532.
