Naperville resident, bar owner killed in Michigan crash

A Naperville bar owner was killed in a motorcycle accident in Michigan Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Angelo Egizio, 54, owner of Orazio's Pub in downtown Naperville, was killed when his motorcycle slammed into a car at about 2:31 p.m. Tuesday on Michigan Highway 63 in Hagar Township, authorities said.

Egizio, a resident of Naperville, was taken to Lakeland Hospital in nearby St. Joseph, Michigan, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old man from Benton Harbor, Michigan, turned in front of Egizio and failed to stop before impact, authorities said. The driver, who has not been cited, said he did not see Egizio until it was too late to avoid the crash.

Berrien County Police said there was no indication that alcohol had played a part in the accident, but have yet to determine whether excessive speed was a factor.

Egizio was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation, officials said. After the completion of the investigation, the case will be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutors Office for review.
