Hear senate candidates discuss U-46

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, Elgin Area School District U-46, Citizens’ Advisory Council, the League of Women Voters, the Elgin Teachers Association, and the Daily Herald will hold a forum for Illinois senate candidates who are facing off in the March primary election.
The forum will be in the auditorium of Streamwood High School, 701 W. Schaumburg Road. The moderator will be Kerry Lester, political reporter for the Daily Herald, and the questions will be education-related.
Several of the schools will have new representation in the Illinois House and Senate due to the decennial redrawing of political boundaries.
This is your opportunity to listen to the senate candidates before March 20 primary.
The invitees include: state 22nd Senate District, Democrats Tim Elenz and Michael Noland; 23rd Senate District, Democrats Kevin Allen, Greg Brownfield and Thomas Cullerton; 23rd Senate District, Republicans Carole Pankau and Randy Ramey; 33rd Senate District, Republicans Karen McConnaughay and Cliff Surges; 25th Senate District, Democrats Steven Hunter and Corrine Pierog; 25th Senate District, Republicans Jim Oberweis, Dave Richmond and Richard Slocum; 28th Senate District, Democrat Daniel Kotowski; and 28th Senate District, Republicans Jim O’Donnell and Gayle Smolinski.
