Girls soccer

Grayslake North 4, Highland Park 1: Grayslake North kicked off the season with a nonconference victory. The Knights got a goal and 2 assists from both senior Katie McGrath and freshman Sam Villwock. Senior Katie Lahera and junior Jaclyn Brennan also scored one goal each.

Prospect 4, Lake Zurich 0: Lake Zurich dropped its season opener. Prospect scored 2 goals in each half.

Baseball

Richmond-Burton 10, Lakes 0: Richmond-Burton got the decisive victory in five innings.

Softball

Warren 7, Deerfield 0: A 5-run fourth inning helped the Blue Devils cruise to victory and pull to 1-1 on the season.

Pitcher Jana Wagner got the win for Warren. She rolled up 5 strikeouts in five innings while not allowing a walk. Meanwhile, Megan Sowa went 3-for-4 at the plate for Warren, including a triple and 2 RBI. Teammate Jill Fox went 2-for-4.

Lake Zurich 2, Maine West 0: Maria Schroeder went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Lake Zurich, which pulls to 1-1 on the season. Also for the Bears, Carlee Parsons added 3 hits, including a double, while Mallory Parsons had 2 hits, including a double, and 2 RBI. Kasey Roe added 2 hits and drove in 2 runs and Christina Sandstedt and Katie Brown each finished with 2 hits.
