Elgin man dies in Wisconsin snowmobile crash
A 39-year-old Elgin father of three died in a snowmobile accident in northern Wisconsin Friday morning.
Anthony F. “Tony” Capaci was driving a snowmobile in Hurley, Wis., when he collided with a City of Hurley snowplow truck at 10:24 a.m. Friday, according to the Iron County sheriff's department. The city is on the border of the upper peninsula of Michigan.
Capaci was taken to Grand View Hospital in Michigan, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff's office.
The investigation into the crash continued as of Sunday.
Capaci served in the Army after graduating from Streamwood High School in 1991 and was a member of the 12th Special Forces 101st Airborne Unit.
Family members described Capaci as an avid outdoorsman, who was married to his best friend of 15 years, Stacie Capaci.
He is survived by his wife; their sons Vincent, Julian and Ethan; his parents Frank and Shirley Capaci; and his brothers Frank Jr. and Brian.
Anthony Capaci was the owner of West Pier Laundry in Elgin and a co-owner of C & C sons LLC.
Capaci was preceded in death by his brother Steven, who died in a motorcycle crash in 1986.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 205 W. Main St., West Dundee. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. All memorial donations will be used for a “special project” at Lake LaDonna.
