Lombard Community Blood Drive set for April 11
LOMBARD, Illinois—The next Village of Lombard community blood drive will be held on April 11 at two locations, Lombard Village Hall and Famous Dave's at Yorktown Center.
Blood drive coordinator Carol Bauer has been trying to get various community groups to partner with the Village in hopes of increasing the number of blood donors to accommodate the urgent need for blood. Yorktown Center has stepped up to fulfill the partnership role, in conjunction with Famous Dave's and Culver's Restaurant.
Donors may visit the Village Hall (255 E. Wilson) on April 11 for blood donations from 1:30-7 p.m. and Yorktown Center (Highland Avenue side near Famous Dave's) from 4-7:30 p.m.
All donors of the spring blood drive will receive a coupon from Culver's Restaurant in Lombard for a free pint of Culver's frozen custard while donors at Yorktown will also receive a $10 coupon off a $30 purchase at Famous Dave's.
“Our goal for this drive is to surpass the 212 donor mark,” said Bauer. “With everyone's help and the partnerships we've formed, I feel certain we are on the right track to getting there,” she added.
Anyone interested in making an appointment to donate blood at Village Hall, contact Bauer at (630) 620-5712 or by email at bauerc@villageoflombard.org. To make an appointment to donate blood at Yorktown, call Famous Dave's at (630) 620-6363.
High school students are encouraged to participate in the “Red Cord” program. Any high school student who donates blood six times before graduation will receive a red cord to wear during graduation ceremonies.
Lombard's blood drives are held in cooperation with Heartland Blood Centers. Prospective donors are reminded that a photo ID is required to donate blood.
