Popular pet expo under way in Arlington Heights
The Chicagoland Family Pet Expo opened Friday and continues through Sunday at Arlington Park.
The hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10; $5 for children ages 3-12. Parking is $6. For more information and discounts, visit petchicago.com.
The 20th annual show features more than 300 exhibits and the latest pet products and services.
Among the many products and services for pet owners and enthusiasts are: pet-themed artwork, jewelry, clothing; cleaning supplies; pet clothing; beds and furniture; treats and toys; veterinary services; breed clubs; and animal rescue organizations.
Thor, an 8-year-old German shepherd, and his handler, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Fanella, will demonstrate finding illegal drugs hidden in strange locations. Thor retires this year, but he and Fanella will work to raise money for a special memorial honoring police dogs that will be built in northern Illinois.
