St. Charles bicyclist in critical condition after being hit by car

A 60-year-old St. Charles man is in critcal condition after his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday morning, officials said.

Ralph King was in critical condition Thursday morning at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, but hospital officials could not speak further about his injuries.

King was riding his bike near the intersection of Division Street and Walnut Hill Avenue at 9 a.m. Wednesday when he was hit, police said.

The driver of the Ford F350 pickup, Stephen Biggs, 31, of St. Charles, was cited for failing to yield while turning left, and for making an improper left turn, police said.

Police said Biggs was turning left onto Walnut Hill from Division Street when he struck King.

King was initially taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, but was later transferred to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge for his injuries.
